Papers of William Allen White, 1890-1940 [manuscript].

The collection consists chiefly of letters to Will Owen Jones, editor of the "Lincoln State Journal." White conveys family news, exchanges books, comments on writing, offers reading suggestions and a list of newspaper contacts. He also mentions plans for a book on William Jennings Bryan whose best years were in Lincoln. There is one letter from Mrs. White to Jones. Remaining correspondence is chiefly to publishers and admirers and includes praise for the first Kansas governor Charles Robinson and his wife, requests for review copies of books, responses to requests for autographs and articles, and comments on the Presidential election of 1936. There is also a signed form letter to a local chairman of the Federation of College Progressive Leagues seeking information on student leaders. There are also two cancelled checks, two autographs, a magazine photo and a newsclipping of "The King of Boyville."
